FAQ ONLINE CLASSES

This section is here to help you find simple answers to any questions you may have about our online art classes for school age children. We've tried to cover all the topics parents often ask about, but if you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out via website. We’ll do everything we can to provide a quick and easy response to your inquiries.

✔️ How do online classes run?Iris Art Studio’s online classes are live-streamed via the Zoom platform. The teacher demonstrates each step of creating an artwork, communicates with students in real-time, and provides feedback on their work.

✔️ Are these separate classes or a block?Online classes run in blocks of 8-9 sessions per term. Each term offers a unique theme or focus, designed to inspire and teach students skills in visual art. This structure allows for consistent progress and skill development. For example, a term might focus on themes like "Flowers," "Path to Realism," or "Fundamentals of Portraits." These classes are not separate workshops but are connected into a cohesive program, providing students with the best results through a smooth and gradual learning pattern. Classes are held once a week for each group.

✔️ How long does each term last? Each term for online classes lasts for 8-9 weeks.

✔️ What happens if a public holiday falls on a class day? There are no classes on public holidays, and no charges for these days.

✔️ When do terms start and finish?Iris Art Studio, located in Sydney, follows the NSW public school schedule. The start and end dates for each term are clearly listed on our website in the term description. Classes run according to Sydney time.

✔️ What levels do you offer for online classes?

  1. Intermediate (7-12 years): Class duration 60 minutes

  2. Advanced (10+ years): Class duration 90 minutes

Note: Age is only an approximate guide. Feel free to discuss with our teachers to find the best group for your child.

✔️ What if my child misses a class? No need to worry! Iris Art Studio offers a convenient "No One Misses Class" catch-up policy. If your child misses a class, you have several simple options to catch up:

  1. Book a spot in another online group, if available.

  2. Get a recorded version of the online class.

Please note: It is the parent's responsibility to book a catch-up class.

✔️ Do we need to buy materials?Yes, for online classes, students are required to purchase their own art materials. But the goal is to make life easy for parents—all materials are easy to find in local stores, inexpensive, and suitable for home use. A list of materials is provided. CLICK HERE

✔️ What else do we need for online classes? You will need a device with the Zoom program installed. We recommend using a large-screen computer, tablet, or iPad, but not a smartphone.

✔️ How do we access the online classes? After booking, you will receive a link that remains the same for each class in a term for your convenience. However, we will also send reminders with the link, class theme, and materials before each session via email. We recommend joining the class at least 5 minutes before the start time, with your child’s name displayed on the screen.

✔️ How many students are in a class? The maximum is 8 students per class. Small group sizes ensure that your child receives personal attention and an individualized approach.

✔️ What if I buy a term or casual class and then change my mind? Refunds are not given in this case. However, you can offer your spot to a friend or receive recorded versions of the classes to complete at a convenient time.

✔️ Can two or more kids join the class? Yes, if you would like to enroll siblings in online sessions, we offer a 50% discount for the second child. Please contact us for an individual invoice.

✔️ Do you accept NSW Creative Vouchers? Iris Art Studio is a registered provider, and we accept Creative Vouchers as payment or partial payment for our face-to-face services for children. Vouchers are not applicable for online classes.

✔️ Can my child join in the middle of a term? Yes, your child can join mid-term if space is available. The price will be adjusted based on the number of sessions you select.

✔️ What style of art is taught at the studio? The teaching approach at Iris Art Studio is rooted in a classical style, blending both Australian and European methods. Students learn the fundamentals of realistic drawing and painting, but the activities for young artists are always fun, engaging, and creative. In online classes, we explore watercolor, pencil, markers, and their combinations. By incorporating many innovative and unique techniques into the program, your child gains solid artistic skills and a wonderful creative experience.

✔️ Is a trial class available? Yes! To book a trial class, simply choose one session and apply the TRIAL10 coupon to receive a 10% discount on your first experience. Our trial class is not a demo—your child will join a regular full session. A professional teacher will offer personal attention, full instructions, and support, ensuring that your young artist feels nurtured, safe, and happy while creating a wonderful artwork.
